Frequently Asked Questions

I specialize in solving injury-related issues and optimizing athletic performance using evidence-based methods trusted by professional teams worldwide.
A properly functioning joint is crucial—without it, engaging in sports or strength training can lead to further dysfunction and compensation.
My approach combines the latest in physical training and manual therapy, with a deep understanding of anatomy. I focus on identifying and addressing joint, connective tissue, and muscular limitations to restore movement from the inside out.
Whether you're dealing with an injury, movement restriction, or strength limitations, my goal is to help you overcome these barriers so you can move better and do more of what you love.

If you're looking for standard workouts or general solutions for injury management, you can see a local trainer or massage therapist.
I am also not in acute care. Meaning, if you're looking for a ‘quick fix’ for chronic injuries over a single session I am NOT the person for you.
I don’t have a magic potion that’s going to suddenly make everything better.
I need you to take notes, ask questions, be proactive, do your homework, and take this seriously so you can set yourself up for success and be more independent with your training. This approach is about learning tools that you can continue to practice and refine every day for the rest of your life for better health and performance.

There have been a lot of developments in cellular biology and physical medicine in the last twenty years. The implications regarding the potential we have to mitigate injuries and enhance performance as trainers and manual practitioners have been a major blindspot in the industry outside of the FRS® model.
I offer you a level of expertise and specificity that is becoming the gold standard of what is being practiced from both the injury management and athletic development. FRS® is utilized in the NFL, MLB, MLS, NHL, NBA, NCAA, the UFC, and more.

1. Be prepared to learn. Bring something to take notes on and ask questions.
2. It is paramount that you practice your homework. I need you to give me feedback about what sensations you’re feeling as you train with me and on your own.
3. Practice doing CARs (Controlled Articular Rotations) daily to screen and maintain your joint health. If you didn’t get these include in your package they are available on my website.
4. Lateralize any insulting activities so as not to further injure compromised areas. I need you to at minimum not continue to insult the problematic area(s).
5. Appreciate that it takes time, consistency, effort, and specificity to build your joint and connective tissue capacities.
6. Your goals are important to me. I am here to help you frame how joint and connective tissue training is going to help you reach your goals the safest, most efficient, and most sustainable way possible.
7. Try and schedule out your sessions over a 4-6 or 8-12 week block to maximize the inputs needed to effect meaningful change.

You can expect to do a lot of intense, tissue specific training with me in-person and on your own. Daily homework is a non-negotiable for change to happen. This is your responsibility to uphold so we can ensure we’re doing enough stimulating work to create long term changes. You will learn a lot about your current physical state, along with what you need to work on to achieve your goals. A few other important things to note:
1. Joint maintenance isn’t joint training. We need to start you with maintenance if you’ve been doing none, but please don’t confuse that with training.
2. Depending on the package you purchased, there is a lot to practice in the hip/spine/shoulder joint training 101 that introduces you to joint training. This, along with the joint maintenance modules can be done throughout the week in addition to what we’re working on in-person.
3. While working on an injury specifically is important, remember there are tons of other tissues, capacities, and skills you’re going to want to maintain or develop. Focus needs to be on the big picture and how to train considering your limitations without losing picture of those big picture goals. We will have a discussion about this during your evaluation.
4. We can’t work on everything at once, this allows us to concentrate our training time toward a few very specific adaptations.

I made these videos as a great introduction to what joint maintenance and training looks and feels like. I recommend every single client develop a daily practice of full body joint maintenance, which covers CARs (Controlled Articular Rotations). I have yet to hear of a client NOT feeling better by spending more time and intention making this practice a daily priority.
Hip/Spine/Shoulder Joint Specific Training 101 - This covers some fundamental maintenance and training inputs for the hips, spine, and shoulders. This is slightly more targeted to these areas than the Full Body Joint Maintenance.
Full Body Joint Maintenance - This class covers all of the positions and transitions you need to practice and improve for the health and screening of your joints.
The Joint Training 101 Package - includes both of these and is a staple all of my clients take the time to practice, review, and revisit weekly.
Check out the services page to purchase online training modules or sign up for one of my new client packages to have these included.

I got into the field of training and injury management in my early twenties after being fed up with the lack of progress I was seeing with my own personal injuries from all my years of grappling.
I had sought out many experts in physiotherapy, chiropractic, surgery, strength training, and massage therapy in the US, Canada, and the UK.
Yet, I still wasn’t solving my physical limitations. Eventually, I came across Functional Range Systems® which was the first approach that actually helped me specifically rehabilitate my chronic injuries, allowing me to not only recover but return to my sport in even better physical shape.
I started in big box gyms as a personal trainer, adding services as a manual therapist between finishing massage therapy school and completing Functional Range Release® Spine, Upper, and Lower.
I have an extensive competitive background in wrestling, judo, and jiu jitsu (20 years). I also cycle, run, and strength train. All of my activities I do without chronic pain, dysfunction, or movement limitations. Continuing to train these activities along with using the exact same system I treat and train clients with on myself every day is my way of showing skin in the game.
